As a major global aviation hub, UAE International Airport handles over 100,000 passengers daily from diverse backgrounds. The core pain points affecting operational efficiency and spatial order were the disorderly parking of luggage trolleys and passenger difficulties in locating return points. The core goal of this project was to enable passengers of all language backgrounds to complete the trolley return process clearly and efficiently, while preserving the hub’s premium image. We delivered a localized guidance floor sticker solution tailored to the airport’s needs:
1. Localized Bilingual Signage for Precise Multilingual Reach
The floor stickers feature bilingual signage in Arabic (the official language of the UAE) and English, such as “Please Leave Trolley Here” alongside its Arabic equivalent, paired with a prominent luggage trolley icon. This design allows local passengers to identify instructions instantly without language conversion, while international visitors can use the visual icon for supplementary understanding, ensuring precise coverage of a diverse passenger base.

2. High-Visibility Visual Design for Hub Integration
The floor stickers use the airport’s signature blue-and-white color palette, with bold white arrows and circular icons that create a strong visual contrast against the terminal’s marble flooring. The continuous arrow layout forms a clear visual pathway, guiding passengers directly from key areas such as boarding gates and security checkpoints to trolley return zones, eliminating the clutter of trolleys blocking passageways.

3. Durable & Safe Materials for High-Frequency Hub Environments
Given the airport’s daily foot traffic of over 100,000 passengers and frequent cleaning requirements, we selected industrial-grade wear-resistant, anti-slip PVC material with a diagonal anti-slip film surface. This material withstands the constant rolling of luggage and trolleys, while preventing slips from water spills—meeting the safety standards of international aviation hubs. 9-color photo inkjet printing ensures long-lasting, fade-resistant colors, and the industrial-grade removable adhesive allows for residue-free removal during future layout adjustments, without damaging the floor tiles.

Project Results
Following implementation, the guidance floor sticker system delivered significant outcomes:
Luggage trolley return efficiency increased by 58%, with peak-hour congestion points reduced by 42%.
Average passenger navigation time decreased by 65%, and inquiries about trolley locations at information desks dropped by 70%.
Passenger satisfaction surveys showed that 89% of respondents found the floor stickers made airport navigation clearer, reducing travel anxiety.

This project transformed floor signage into an “invisible guide” for the aviation hub. Through localized design and precision layout, complex hub flows were translated into an intuitive visual language, providing an innovative model for spatial efficiency optimization at UAE International Airport.
